My Model Railroading Project

Very recently, I picked up a new hobby; Model Railroading. About 25 years ago, I inherited a modest collection of track, cars and engines from my Maternal Grandfather, Theodore (Bruce) Rider, the original "Rider" of Rider's Hobby Shop. I have since expanded that collection through my eBay habit.

I am just starting the slow, time consuming process of building a 4'x8' HO layout based on an Ann Arbor Railroad theme. It will be a "never was" style layout, meaning that it will not actually resemble anything that has ever existed on the AA Railroad System.

As a native of the city, I hope that my layout will ring true to the spirit of the town in which I was born and raised. I will accomplish this effect by incorporating into the layout some real Ann Arbor touches such as a model of the Fleetwood Diner or The Gandy Dancer Restaurant for instance.

Check back again, as I will be including more photographs of the layout's progress. For now, I hope you will enjoy these links to other sites dedicated to the Ann Arbor Railroad and Model Railroading.
